Islands Terrific in the Northern Pacific
Carved by glaciers, the here mountains plunge straight into the seas, allowing even deep draft ships to sail within hailing distance of the trees. The water generally borders on the fridgid, year round, but in certain sheltered areas such as Hood Canal, Port Susan and some of the small bays of Desolation Sound the water temperature soars to temperatures that, in the top five feet, might reasonably be called "refreshing."
It's a magnificent place to sail, to explore, to dream. An it's an excellent place to expore by schooner.
The members and volunteers of the Northwest Schooner Society hope you will explore our neighborhood.
